Foreign accent research
French accent perception research project
The vast majority of non-native speakers have some degree of foreign accent (i.e. their speech deviates from native speaker norms in some discernible way), and native speakers seem to be very good at perceiving non-native accent even in very short stretches of speech.
In this project, I am seeking to indentify what type of perceptual cues enable native speakers both to recognise non-native speech, and to make judgements of the strength of the non-native accent.

I am currently carrying out a long-term project into what makes French-accented English sound more or less French.
Whatever your language background, if you would like to take part in this project, please take 15 minutes to do the following on-line survey.
